ZAGAT WORLD'S TOP RESTAURANTS
Fourth Edition
World's Top Restaurants Zagat's fourth edition of the world's top restaurant has been released, "showcasing 1,404 eateries in 58 major markets across Asia, Europe and North America," Zagat says. Of those restaurants, 23 are considered the tops (that's how many restaurants scored a 29 on the Zagat scale.) Here's a sampling. If you want more, you're going to have to venture to Zagat.com. But FYI...Chicago made the best list at least three times.
O Ya in Boston Japanese food here has been described as off the charts innovative when it comes to sushi and pared with an extensive sake list and you have the makings of an unforgettable evening of dining.
Market Restaurant and Bar in San Diego Botique wines, stellar sushi bar, and fresh ingredients in the Californian fare have put this Del Mar spot on the map.
Gary Danko & French Laundry in San Francisco Food, service and popularity surround the Fisherman's Wharf eatery that caters to American cuisine. It might have something to do with the great cheese cart, wines and setting. Either way, Danko's is a must-stop. and the gastronomic resturant that is French Laundry centers around American and French food, as the name suggests. The term culinary theater was dropped in a survey for this Yountville spot.
Bacchanalia in Atlanta America delectables here are said to bring tears to your eyes it's so good. That coupled with the servive makes it something to experience.
Chicago's Alinea, Les Nomades, and Schwa Alinea's American food is molded by Grant Achatz. Nuff said on that one. and The French food found in Streeterville's Les Nomakes is touted as romantic and one of the last bastions of haute cuisine. and Wicker Park's Schwa has been deemed fascinating for its New American fare.
Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills, California This is the original spot that made a name for Nobu Matsuhisa. The sushi in Beverly Hills destination has been cited as superlative and the staff is amazing.
The Ledbury in London This Notting Hill spot has location, a fantastic sommelier, and french food that has exhilarating tastes and textures.
Daniel & Le Bernardin in New York City The wine list, formal dining and world class service makes this East Side eatery a top-choice. and Le Bernardin's French seafood fare makes for an unforgettable experience in Midtown.
Spondi in Athens, Greece French/Mediterranean cuisine takes center stage here and is touted as being in a class of its own
Sushi Kaji in Toronto An epic sushi experience is said to await diners at this Japanese destination.
Bonnell's in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area Southwestern food is the main attraction here thanks to items with local game and flawless service with chef John Bonnell at the helm.
Naoe in Miami Warm and personal are terms used in reference to this Sunny Isles Beach location. The Japanese cuisine is cited as being outstanding.
Kyoaji & Restaurant Bacar in Tokyo Kyoaji is an eatery that has the word flawless associated to it, per Zagat. 3-3-5 Shinbashi, Minato-ku (81-3) 3591-3344 and Restaurant Bacar focuses on French food that is exceptional in a cozy setting.
Marcel's in Washington, D.C. The romantic setting, great service and food from this West End Belgian-French restaurant gets top ratings. |
